Assam: Man beaten to death on suspicion of being child kidnapper

A man was beaten to death in Assam’s Jonai area on suspicion of being a child kidnapper. The incident took place on Wednesday night.

The victim is alleged to have snatched a child from her mother. But when the mother screamed for help, the victim fled from the spot. According to locals, the incident occurred in Jonai of Dhemaji District.

In the Baikunthpur area, the villagers chased him and beat him to death on suspicion of being a child kidnapper.

Police later handled the situation and recovered the victim in critical condition. The victim was rushed to Jonai Civil Hospital, and doctors declared him brought dead.

The deceased has been identified as Golap Barua. Golap Barua hails from the Gogamukh area of the Dhemaji district.

It was found that Golap Barua was mentally challenged.

Significantly, in the last few days, many superstitions have created panic in many areas of Upper Assam. Police have already started their investigation in this regard.
