Assam Launches Police Seva Setu Portal to Improve Police-Citizen Relations

The Assam Police Seva Setu Portal, an interactive citizen services platform, was unveiled today in Guwahati by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, marking a significant stride towards transparency and community engagement.

The launch event took place at Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra and was graced by the presence of dignitaries such as Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, cabinet ministers, and others. The Seva Setu Portal is a step towards streamlining the process of reporting complaints and delivering essential services to citizens.

The portal offers several notable features aimed at improving citizen-police interactions, including:

  1. Instant crime reporting and grievance submission, which ensures prompt law enforcement response.
  2. Online registration for senior citizens living alone, enhancing their safety and well-being.
  3. Verification services for government, Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), and private job candidates, promoting secure employment practices.
  4. Tenant, paying guest (PG) inmates, and domestic help verification to boost residential security measures.
  5. Assistance in filing reports for missing persons, child-related issues, and lost and found items, enabling swift resolutions.
  6. Streamlined application processes for event permissions and No Objection Certificates (NOCs).
  7. Security clearances for commercial construction, petrol pump establishments, gas agencies, and more to ensure safety standards are met.
  8. Simplified application procedures for permissions and NOCs related to firecracker sales, temporary bar licenses, and other activities.
  9. Confidential sharing of crime-related information, preserving the anonymity of informants.

The launch of the Assam Police Seva Setu Portal is an important move towards promoting transparency and facilitating real-time communication between citizens and the police. This platform aims to encourage community engagement and enhance the effectiveness of law enforcement in the state.
