Assam: Hindu boy killed for refusing to convert to Christianity to marry girlfriend

On September 12, a 23-year-old Hindu boy from Koilamari Balijan area of Lakhimpur district was beaten to death by the people of the Christian community by taking him out of the house. As per the reports, he was found dead, hanging by a tree.

Bishal’s fault was that he had married a Christian girl and was not adopting the Christian religion.

This thing went so much to the local priests that they attacked Bishal by gathering the nearby Christian population. The incident is from Lakhimpur in Assam.

According to the social organization Legal Right Observatory, this incident happened in Johing of Lakhimpur. Where Bishal married 1a Christian girl, but he was not converted from Hindu to Christian even after pressure from the local priests.

After this, the priests of four local churches instigated the Christian population there and attacked Bishal. Bishal was thrashed to death by a mob of around 1000 people.

The Assam Police is now investigating the matter. This information has also been given to the 2Chief Minister of the state, Himanta Biswa Sarma.
