Assam Hailstorm : Storm in Tinsukia hurt 41,000 people and killed 2

After a strong storm and hailstorm, damage is still being done in Assam’s Tinsukia area. More than 41,000 people have been hurt by this disaster so far. Two people have died at the same time. As a safety measure, the district management has told all schools and colleges in the district to close today.

The Deputy Commissioner of Tinsukia district said that schools and colleges will be closed on 24 April for safety reasons because of the strong storm and hailstorm that happened on Saturday and Sunday evening. Swapnil Paul, the deputy commissioner of Tinsukia district, said that two people died when a storm hit the Dumduma area of the district. The people of 54 villages have been hurt by the strong storm and hailstorm, according to the district government.

On Friday, a strong storm killed a seven-year-old boy in the Karimganj area of Assam. This happened to more than 400 homes. Patharkandi’s Revenue Divisional Officer Arpita Datta Mazumdar said that the storm hit 428 families in five gramme panchayats.

In the Patharkandi area, a 7-year-old boy died when the storm caused his house to fall down. The storm caused many roofs to fall off, which caused damage to many homes. The district office says that the storm knocked down trees and electric poles in the area.

People in the Tinsukia area of Assam have had to deal with the weather nonstop for the last two days. Due to the storm, many people have been blown out of their homes and have to live in the open air. But in order to help the families of the victims, the government is running its own relief and rescue efforts.
