MOITRI Police Stations
Under the MOITRI (Mission for Overall Improvement of Thana for Responsive Image) initiative, 97 out of 100 planned new police stations have been completed and are now fully operational across the state. This near-complete implementation represents a significant expansion of police presence and accessibility throughout Assam’s diverse geographical regions.
District Jail Facilities
The state has completed construction of district jails in Chirang and Baksa districts, while the jail facility in Hailakandi is nearing completion. These new correctional facilities address crucial capacity needs in the state’s prison system and provide improved infrastructure for housing inmates.
Police Training Academy
Phase I of the Lachit Barphukan Police Academy construction in Dergaon has been completed. The first phase includes several key facilities: the Main Building, Police Museum, Parade Ground, boundary wall, and smart fencing systems. The academy will serve as a central training hub for police personnel, enhancing professional standards and capabilities.
Commando Battalion Units
The state is expanding its specialized response capabilities with new Assam Police Commando Battalion units currently under construction in three strategic locations: Doldoli (Karbi Anglong), Ambikapur (Sadia), and Pabhoi (Biswanath). These specialized units will enhance the police force’s ability to respond to high-risk situations and security challenges.
According to sources, these infrastructure projects represent significant capital investment in the state’s security apparatus, with additional phases planned for further enhancement of police facilities and capabilities in the coming years.
