On February 27, the Directorate of Cultural Affairs of Assam removed the Culture Development Officer of Dibrugarh and Sonari from duty. Due to her absence from the “Khring Khring Bathou Puja” of the Sonowal Kachari Community and her inability to correctly recite the national anthem, the officer Bhanita Hira Das was suspended.

The Department of Cultural Affairs organised the “Khring Khring Bathou Puja,” which took place on February 26 and 27 at Mankota in Dibrugarh.
Director of Cultural Affairs Meenakshi Das Nath published the notice.

In connection with alleged widespread irregularities in appointments at Assam Fisheries Development Corporation Limited (AFDCL), where they were previously employed, the Assam government earlier on February 2 terminated two Assam Civil Service (ACS) officers.

When Anuradha Adhikari and Naren Chandra Basumatary were serving as managing directors for the AFDCL, the alleged irregularities are said to have occurred.

In a statement released by the Assam Government’s Personnel Department, it was stated that during Anuradha Adhikari’s tenure as Managing Director of Assam Fishery Development Corporation Limited (AFDCL), the ACS had engaged in extensive irregularities in the regularisation of employees and the appointment of contractual employees.

What is Khring Khring Bathou Puja

Khring Khring Bathou Puja is a religious festival celebrated by the Bodo community of Assam, a state in northeastern India. Bathou is the supreme deity of the Bodo people, and this festival is dedicated to the worship of Bathou.

During the Khring Khring Bathou Puja, people offer prayers and sacrifices to Bathou to seek his blessings for prosperity and happiness. The festival usually takes place in the month of January, and it is celebrated over a period of three to five days.

The festival is marked by various rituals, including the lighting of lamps, offering of flowers, singing of hymns, and the sacrifice of animals such as goats, buffaloes, and chickens. It is also an occasion for feasting and socializing with family and friends.

Overall, the Khring Khring Bathou Puja is an important cultural and religious event for the Bodo community, and it serves as a way to strengthen their faith and connect with their traditional roots.
