Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and BJP state president Dilip Saikia led a massive ‘Tiranga Yatra’ in Guwahati on Wednesday to celebrate the success of ‘Operation Sindoor,’ the recent military action carried out by Indian armed forces in response to the Pahalgam terror attack.
The patriotic rally, which stretched from Adabari to Jalukbari, drew hundreds of BJP workers and supporters who marched through the streets carrying the Indian national flag. Former Eastern Army Commander Lt Gen (retd) Rana Pratap Kalita also joined the procession, adding military gravitas to the event.
Participants raised nationalistic slogans including “Bharat Mata Ki Jai”, “Indian Army Zindabad”, and “Pakistan Murdabad” throughout the rally, expressing strong support for the military operation.
“Our forces have shown that they are the best in the world and gave the enemy a body blow in #OperationSindoor. To celebrate its success and the valour of our forces, I am taking part in the #TirangaYatra in Guwahati,” Chief Minister Sarma wrote in a Facebook post during the event.

State BJP president Saikia also praised the armed forces during the rally, emphasizing that they had demonstrated India’s strength to the international community through their precise and effective operation.
Operation Sindoor was launched by the Indian armed forces on May 7, 2025, targeting what officials described as terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir. The military action came in response to the April 22 attack in Pahalgam, Indian-administered Kashmir, where gunmen killed 26 people, most of whom were Indian tourists.
