Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday inaugurated multiple development projects worth Rs 168 crores in the Karbi Along district.
The key projects included a 3,000-seat Sertalin Auditorium in Taralangso built at Rs 35 crores, a multipurpose sports complex at Diphu’s KASA Stadium worth Rs 75 crores, and the extension of a VIP guest house in Taralangso at Rs 5.57 crores.
Other inaugurated projects were the beautification of local fisheries, market complexes, bus terminals, and public spaces across Taralangso and Diphu.
Speaking at a public gathering in Diphu, the Chief Minister emphasized the rich history and culture of the Karbi community, which dates back to 3000 BC. He stated that the Karbis have progressed over time through the practice of the Honghari faith.
The district administration said the new projects will boost connectivity, sports infrastructure, public facilities and economic growth in the Karbi Along region. Locals welcomed the government’s development initiatives for the area.
