Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia had accused Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and his family of corruption. CM Himanta had termed Sisodia’s allegation as false. However, he was also warned of taking legal action.
CM Himanta Biswa Sarma’s wife, Rinki Bhuyan Sarma, has filed a defamation case against Manish Sisodia. She has demanded compensation of 100 crores.
Sisodia held a press conference on 4 June. In this, he alleged that the Assam government had benefited the company of CM’s wife and son in the matter of buying PPE kits. CM Himanta had categorically rejected Sisodia’s allegations.
Now Rinki Bhuyan Sharma has filed a defamation case against Sisodia. His lawyer Padmadhar Nayak said the case would be listed by Wednesday.
Rinki Bhuyan Sharma also clarified the facts. She had said that the Assam government did not have a single PPE kit at the beginning of the pandemic. So she took cognizance of this and distributed 1500 PPE kits. She wrote to NHM to consider it as part of her CSR.
