Assam Chief Minister, Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma has directed to take necessary steps to introduce English as the medium of instruction in science and mathematics in schools from class VI to XII. The Chief Minister gave the directive at a review meeting in the presence of Education Minister Dr Ronoj Pegu and Education Department Advisor Dr Nanigopal Mahanta at Janata Bhawan recently.
The meeting also discussed the progress of upgradation of school infrastructure including implementation of e-office, file disposal under Mission Sadbhavana, recruitment and promotion of various posts, supply of desks and benches and supply of electricity takes.

The Chief Minister also said that schools will be merged within the stipulated time frame, training of teachers in DIET will be conducted continuously and a special Gyanjyoti program will be conducted for students of 97 tea estate model schools during Durga Puja.
