Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma, welcomed at least 11,000 Bihu performers on Sunday after they broke two Guinness World Records by performing the traditional Bihu dance and drumming.
Sarma thanked the performers for their active involvement in the programme after accepting the world record certificates from Guinness Book officials.
On Twitter, he stated: “We are always devoted to preserving Assam’s heritage and sense of self. We really appreciate your support as we work to promote the traditional dance style of Bihu on a worldwide scale.
On Friday, in Guwahati’s Sarusajai stadium, the Bihu performance was also seen by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
