According to an official notification Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma executed a cabinet reshuffle on Monday, redistributing the portfolios of two ministers.
Jogen Mohan, who formerly managed the portfolios of revenue and disaster management and hill areas development, was assigned the ministry of mines and minerals, adding to his existing duties.
Nandita Gorlosa, previously overseeing the mines and minerals and indigenous and tribal faith and culture portfolios, will now helm the power, cooperation, sports, and youth welfare department. Notably, she will retain the directorate of archaeology, which falls under the indigenous and tribal faith and culture department.
In the reshuffle, Chief Minister Sarma has taken charge of the department of indigenous and tribal faith and culture, excluding the directorates of library and museum and archaeology.
The notification clarified that the portfolios of the other members of Sarma’s ministry remain unaltered. The Assam cabinet consists of Sarma and 15 other members.
This reshuffle comes as Chief Minister Sarma continues to streamline his administration since taking office. The reallocation of portfolios reflects the government’s ongoing efforts to maximize efficiency and ensure effective leadership in all sectors. As the new responsibilities are assumed, all eyes will be on the ministers to see how they navigate their additional portfolios.
