Assam Cabinet Approves Key Policies for Industrial Growth and Rural Development

Major decisions taken to boost investment, infrastructure, and startups in the state

A cabinet meeting was held under the chairmanship of Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma at the Chief Minister’s Office Lok Sewa Bhawan in Dispur on Friday evening. In this meeting, the government took several important decisions including industrial and investment development of the state, strengthening rural roads, encouraging startups, etc. After the meeting, Chief Minister Dr. Sarma briefed the media about these decisions in a press conference.

Key decisions by the Assam Cabinet

Policies for a Viksit Assam

To ensure all-round development of Assam as an industrial and investment friendly State, the cabinet has approved the following policies-

Extension of Mission Basundhara (MB) 3.0 Application Timeline

To enable eligible people to avail services under MB 3.0, Cabinet has approved the application resumption window for MB 3.0 Services till February 15, 2025.

Exemption from 3 Generation Domicile Policy

Honouring their Indigenous heritage, cabinet has approved exemption of 3 generation domicile policy in review of Mission Basundhara 2.0 rejected applications to Koch Rajbongshi, Moran, Matak, Chutia and communities for extension of services under MB 3.0.

Extension of Apon Ghar Benefits

Cabinet has approved proposal to extend the benefit of the enhanced loan threshold limit of 130 lakh to existing 37,277 beneficiaries with an interest subvention of 1%.

Strengthening Rural Roads

Cabinet has approved 2234 crore to improve 219 rural roads in Tea Garden areas of 19 districts.

Encouraging Startups

To supervise the development of startups in Assam and provide policy, funding and mentorship support, Cabinet has approved creation of a new administrative department, “Department of Innovation, Incubation and Startup”

Implementation of Mukhyamantri Mahila Udyamita Abhiyan

To support eligible SHG members in urban areas to take up micro entrepreneurship, Cabinet has approved guidelines for implementation of Mukhyamantri Mahila Udyamita Abhiyan Nogoria (MMUA-N). The scheme will provide 110,000 Seed Fund to eligible members.
