Assam Cabinet Approves 839.95cr for the formation of 5 commando battalions

Several crucial decisions have been taken by the Assam cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Bisawa sarma on July, 18^th. In the Assam Cabinet meeting, the cabinet approves rupees 839.95 cr for the formation of 5 new commando battalions.

The newly approved battalions to be stationed in sensitive areas will boost Assam Police’s capabilities in dealing with and will play a vital role in counter-insurgency operations.

These 5 newly approved battalions are –

1. 2^nd Assam Commando Bn (Ops) which will be located at – Birsima, Hilakandi
2. 3^rd Assam Commando Bn (Ops) which will be located at – Doldoli, Karbi Anglong
3. 4^th Assam Commando Bn (Ops) which will be located at – Geleky, Sivasagar
4. 5^th Assam Commando Bn (Urban Ops and Law & Order) which will be located at pabhoi, Biswanath
5. 6^th Assam Commando Bn (Urban Ops and Law & Order) which will be located at Ambikapur, Sadiya

Talking to Twitter, Assam CM Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “At our #AssamCabinet today, we took several key decisions pertaining to the creation of new battalions, developing new ropeways, setting up Assam Complex in Maharashtra, promoting forensic education, easing norms for EWS candidates, protection of tenure of ward commissioners, etc.”
