Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi are scheduled to visit Assam in the coming weeks for a series of high-profile events and project inaugurations, reflecting the Centre’s continued focus on infrastructure and cultural development in the state.
According to official sources, Amit Shah will visit Assam on August 29 to inaugurate the newly constructed Raj Bhawan in Guwahati, the official residence of the state’s Governor. The Raj Bhawan project is seen as a modern administrative landmark symbolizing Assam’s evolving civic architecture.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit the state on September 8, where he will inaugurate multiple major infrastructure and development projects, including:
- The Numaligarh Bio-Refinery, a significant boost to the Northeast’s green energy and industrial corridor.
- The Guwahati Ring Road Project, valued at ₹7,000 crore, aimed at easing traffic congestion and improving regional connectivity.
- The newly completed Mangaldoi Medical College, further expanding the state’s healthcare and medical education infrastructure.
In addition to these developmental projects, the Prime Minister will also participate in the birth centenary celebrations of legendary cultural icon Bhupen Hazarika, underscoring the government’s emphasis on promoting Assamese heritage and art on a national platform.
